Rain in the forecast for Canada Day activities

Canada is 149 years old on Friday, and thousands will flock downtown for the biggest party of the year!
The official Canada Day activities begin at 9 a.m. with the Changing of the Guard on Parliament Hill.
Concert stages will be set up on Parliament Hill and at Major’s Hill Park. Alternative rock band Metric will perform along with Coleman Hell, Alex Cuba and numerous other artists.

Admission to many museums is free on Canada Day. Good thing, as the weather may not be ideal for outdoor activities, during some parts of the day.
“Scattered thunderstorms could begin as early as the morning and last throughout the day,” said Jill Taylor, 1310 NEWS meteorologist. “We should have some clearing in time for the fireworks, but the wind could be a concern.”
Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 10 p.m., launched from the Astrolabe at Nepean Point. The pyrotechnics show includes more than 2,000 aerial shells and 110 of the largest shells allowed in Canada.
The best views of the fireworks will be at the Canadian Museum of History, Major’s Hill Park and along the Ottawa River.
