OTTAWA — The Ottawa Humane Society is about to start the engine on its latest tool to address the homeless cat population.
A mobile spay and neuter clinic will be unveiled, Thursday, going after the homeless cat problem at its source.
“We’re happy to take care of the animals that come to us, but if they never come to us because they aren’t in this horrible overpopulation, then all the better,” said Bruce Roney, executive director, Ottawa Humane Society.
The money to purchase the vehicle came from a $100,000 grant from Petsmart charities.
The clinic will travel through low-income areas, performing subsidized surgeries. The Humane Society aims to “fix” 6,000 cats over the next two years.
