Drug ring uncovered; seven people facing drug and gun charges

OTTAWA — A three month investigation by the Ottawa Police Service Drug Unit has led to the arrest of five people. Two others remain at large.

All seven face several drug and gun charges.

Over the course of the investigation, police say ten search warrants were executed. Six handguns, three submachine guns, and one long gun were seized, along with 2,000 rounds of ammunition. Police also seized two vehicles, $85,000.00 in Canadian Currency, 58.5 grams of Crack Cocaine, 113 grams of MDPV (bath salts), 229 grams of MDMA (ecstasy), 15.8 grams of Cocaine, 9 grams of Psilocybin, and 125.5 grams of Marijuana.

The investigation uncovered a drug ring that was supplying Northern Ontario locations with drugs from Ottawa and Toronto.

Arrests were also made in the Nipigon area last week related to this investigation. During those arrests, the Ontario Provincial Police and Thunder Bay Police Service seized 1,400 Morphine capsules and ten Fentanyl patches. Two Ottawa residents are facing charges in that jurisdiction.

The following Ottawa residents have been charged:
* Matthew Dimillo, 26
* Luke McCormick, 23
* Michael Meehan, 22
* David Cholewa, 31
* Melissa Prophet, 23
* Khalilulah Iriken, 26
* Alan MacDonald, 24

In all, they are facing more than 75 criminal charges, including: drug trafficking, possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted weapon, possession of weapon dangerous to public, possession of a firearm obtained by crime and many more.

Arrest warrants are outstanding for Iriken and MacDonald. MacDonald is believed to be in the Toronto area.

Both Iriken and MacDonald should be considered armed and dangerous.
