OTTAWA – The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board’s committee of the whole has recommended closing a sixth west end school — J. H. Putman Public School.
Of the seven west end schools under review, trustees recommend closing Leslie Park and Century elementary schools, Greenbank, J.H. Putman and D.A. Moodie middle schools, as well as Grant Alternative.
It’s recommended that Regina Street Public remain open, and be turned into an alternative school.

If school closures are approved, students and staff would be moved to other schools this coming September, with the exception of J.H. Putman.
Trustee’s recommend the middle school be closed within the next couple years, according to Postmedia.
Meantime, to the east, the fate of Rideau High School will be discussed Wednesday.
The school board still has to vote on the recommendations, which will happen in March.
