Ottawa-area man takes home windfall after winning Lotto 6/49

OTTAWA — Many of us have dreams of winning the lottery, and for a Manotick man, that dream has become a reality.

Paul Hindo is $22-million richer after winning last week’s Lotto 6/49.

He bought the winning ticket at the Preston Newstand on Preston Street.

He told the OLG he was out shopping and was about to throw his lottery tickets in the garbage after checking them, when the screen started flashing.

He didn’t believe the screen, so he checked the ticket online before calling his wife to share the good news.

Hindo said while he’s always had plans of traveling and buying a fancy sports car if he ever won, he now plans to give back to Canada, where he immigrated to 40 years ago.
