College strike negotiations to resume

Negotiations between Ontario’s colleges and the union representing striking faculty are set to resume tomorrow.

In a statement, the organization bargaining on behalf of Ontario’s colleges said it asked the mediator to bring the two sides back to the negotiating table to end the college strike.

The College Employer Council added, it could “reach a settlement quickly and have classes start again early next week.”

An OPSEU spokesperson had previously said that the union would return to the table “in a heartbeat” if the colleges approached the mediator or the union itself.

The Ministry of Labour says its mediator has now called both parties back to the bargaining table; negotiations will resume Thursday.
