66th Canadian Tulip Festival kicks off

OTTAWA – The Canadian Tulip Festival kicks off this weekend.

The theme for the 66th edition of the festival is 'World Of Tulips,' inspired by the 7th World Tulip Summit last October, which saw tulipists from 34 countries come to Ottawa.

The opening ceremony is being held at Lansdowne Park at 10 a.m. on Friday and the festival runs through the Victoria Day long weekend, closing with a fireworks display at Dow's Lake Sunday, May 20.

The annual festival celebrates the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Europe.
