OTTAWA – The Ottawa Redblacks have released defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy, the team announced Monday.

The 25-year-old Purifoy had 29 tackles and an interception in seven games with the club this season.

He spent the previous two campaigns with the B.C. Lions, collecting 92 tackles, five sacks and four picks.

The Redblacks signed Purifoy to a one-year deal in February.

In a corresponding move, Ottawa also released wide receiver R.J. Shelton.

The team also added defensive back Randall Evans to its practice roster.

Evans, a sixth-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015, had one tackle in a single appearance with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats this season.
