Fire Prevention Week kicks off Sunday

Sunday marks the start of Fire Prevention Week across the country.

This year's theme is “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware – fire can happen anywhere.''

Fire officials are encouraging everyone to look for potential fire hazards around their homes, listen for smoke alarms in an emergency and learn two ways out of every room.

With many families hosting Thanksgiving dinners this weekend, you are reminded to always stay in the kitchen while cooking, and if you have to leave, turn the stove off.
