The words “freezing drizzle” may not seem dangerous, but Environment Canada has released an advisory warning people to stay safe as temperatures increase.
In a weather advisory, Environment Canada says that there are periods of freezing drizzle in the forecast for Monday. That rain is expected to be mixed in with light snowfall and ice pellets throughout the day.
Freezing drizzle can pose serious ice dangers, especially for drivers. “Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery,” says Environment Canada. “Freezing drizzle can produce thin, hard-to-detect layers of ice. Slow down driving in slippery conditions.”
The weather is expected to change as a warm front moves into the area on Sunday.
