Security guard pepper sprayed in retail theft on Bank Street

The Ottawa Police Service is trying to identify a man in a theft at a retail store on Bank Street, just south of Walkley Road.
Officers say a man was confronted by security in the store, on March 30, about a theft. A struggle ensued between the man and the officer and the suspect deployed pepper spray into the eyes of the security guard. He then left on foot, going northbound on Bank Street.
The suspect is described as:
- White
- Between 30 and 40 years old
- 5' 7'' – 5' 10'' (170 cm – 178 cm)
- Medium build
- Goatee
- Was dressed in a fluorescent orange work jacket, black pants, a Toronto Blue Jays toque and carried a dark-coloured backpack
The security official received medical treatment at the scene and did not suffer any lasting injuries.
