Firefighters called for two-vehicle crash on Highway 417

Two vehicles collided late last night on Highway 417 near Vanier Parkway, with one driver trapped inside their car.
Ottawa paramedics called fire crews for the crash at 10:28 p.m. on Tuesday. Firefighters were needed to help extricate the driver from one of the vehicles that landed on its side.
Officials arrived four minutes later and saw the vehicles. They stabilized the one car and were able to get the driver out through the sunroof. That person was taken care of by Ottawa paramedics.
Fire crews also disconnected the batteries of the cars and spread absorbent on the leaking fuels prior to leaving.
