Man charged with impaired driving after collision involving police cruiser

An officer of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police escaped serious injuries after a car collided into his cruiser.  

On Saturday October 5, just after 12:45 a.m., OPP officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on King Street and Delta, when a northbound vehicle crashed into a parked police car, with the officer still inside. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot, only to be arrested shortly after.

Both the officer and the other driver were taken to hospital and were released after being treated for injuries.
