Transit commissioner stranded by LRT stoppage

One of the city's transit commissioners is criticizing OC Transpo's lack of communications during an O-Train stoppage in which she was stranded at Cyrville Station for about 30 minutes.

Sarah Wright-Gilbert, one of the five citizens who sit on Ottawa's 12-member transit commission, began tweeting around midday Monday that her eastbound train was stopped in Cyrville Station. She tweeted that passengers were only provided the bare minimum of information about the cause of the delay or when their train would begin moving again.

Wright-Gilbert tweeted about the delay, including about the lack of information to passengers.

When she tried to get information from staff, including an OC Transpo ambassador and a supervisor, Wright-Gilbert said no one could provide her with any information.

After about half an hour, Wright-Gilbert was able to board a replacement train and leave Cyrville Station.

Wright-Gilbert says the lack of communication about the delay is disappointing, and that she plans to bring up the incident with the city's transportation services manager, John Manconi.
