Loaded handgun and drugs seized during routine south Ottawa traffic stop

An Ottawa police neighbourhood resource team seized a loaded handgun and drugs during a routine traffic stop.
Officers stopped the vehicle Tuesday at the intersection of Bank Street and Walkley Road around 1:30 p.m. for a driving infraction.
Further investigation revealed the driver was in breach of conditions and was arrested.
A search of the vehicle found a loaded handgun, a quantity of cocaine, drug packaging, cell phones, and money.
Ahmed Hassan, 25, has been charged with:
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Transports Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing in Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Scheduled I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000
- Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking given by Officer in Charge
He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
