Two dead, homes destroyed in Barrhaven fire

Two people are dead after fire destroyed eight units of a building in Barrhaven.
Ottawa fire responded to 58 Barnstone Drive at 2:09 a.m. Tuesday, after receiving multiple calls reporting smoke and flames coming from a multi-storey residential row house complex.
Officials say the fire quickly spread to other adjoining units. It took crews more than two hours to extinguish the blaze.
A 51-year-old woman has been taken to hospital for smoke related injuries. She's in stable condition. A number of residents have been displaced due to the fire.
An Ottawa Fire Investigator has been called in to investigate the cause of the blaze.
No details on the age or gender of the victims have been released.
