Ottawa River flood watch ends

The Ottawa River flood watch, issued on April 9, has ended.
The Ottawa River Regulation Committee said water levels are decreasing along the main stem of the river, from Pembroke down to the Montreal region.
Officials expect the water levels will continue to decline to normal spring freshet levels, as no major precipitation is forecasted in the next few days.
A water safety statement remains in effect as all areas are experiencing high spring flows, which are typical for this time of year.
Residents of these areas are advised to stay away from water where flows are high and where banks might be unstable. Parents are encouraged to explain these dangers to children.
As part of the flood forecasting and warning program the Mississippi Valley, Rideau Valley, and South Nation Conservation Authorities all monitor water levels, as well as weather forecasts in conjunction with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
