Stove top fire in apartment displaces one person in west end

One person is displaced in the west end thanks to a fire that burned through an apartment.
Ottawa Fire services said they’ve received multiple 911 calls at about 6:15 p.m. reporting a fire in an apartment at 1720 Baseline Rd. near Deerfield Drive Friday.
Firefighter confirmed light smoke showing from a third floor apartment and declared a working fire.
A fire on a stove top extended to the kitchen cupboards and firefighters worked quickly to ventilate the unit.
The cause is deemed accidental and damages are estimated under $50,000.
The person did not sustain any injuries.
An investigator will not be needed at this time, Ottawa Fire Services says.
