Rideau Ferry closed due to serious vehicle, deer collision, sending two to hospital — one with life-threatening injuries

The Rideau Ferry is closed as OPP investigate a serious single vehicle collision west of the ferry. 

According to the Lanark County detachment, the collision happened Saturday just after 3:30 a.m.

Officers responded to a report of a car and deer collision on Rideau Ferry Road near Echo Bay Road. 

Members of Drummond, North Elmsley, Tay Faley Fire Rescue Service also attended the scene. 

The vehicle had entered the ditch, resulting in three people being injured. 

The 25-year-old male driver from Quebec suffered only minor injuries. 

A 32-year-old male passenger from the Perth area suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries. 

Another man, 26, from Perth suffered life-threatening injuries. 

Both Perth men were transported to hospital by Lanark County Paramedics. 

A section of Rideau Ferry Road remains closed while the OPP remain on scene to investigate. 

Drivers are asked to watch for posted detours.
