Overcrowding at Quebec hospitals is forcing the Centre intégré de santé et de service sociaux de l’Outaouais to increase capacity at Gatineau-area hospitals by shedding some services temporarily.
According to a news release sent out by the CISSS, COVID-19 hospitalizations are spiking, so the government body will be increasing hospitalization capacity to 40 beds at the Hull hospital.
Because of this, the hospital will have to let go of some services for the short term, which include:
- Endoscopy services
- Activities in outpatient clinics
- Non-emergency operations in the operating departments of Gatineau and Hull hospitals
The CISSS says the rollback of these areas will take place over the next five days, and will be reassessed in the following days.
All those impacted by the offloading of these services will be contacted to inform them that their appointment or procedure has been postponed.
