Arson charge laid in early-morning Sandy Hill house fire

A 27-year-old Ottawa man is facing an arson-related charge after a fire on Daly Avenue.

Ottawa Fire Services responded to a blaze at 182 Daly Avenue in Sandy Hill, around 1:38 a.m., Monday, December 21.

Ottawa police now say a resident of a rooming house deliberately set fire to his room before advising the other residents that the house was on fire and leaving.

Officers found the suspect and arrested him around 2:30 a.m.

Naddir Abboud is facing one count of causing fire with disregard for human life.

He is scheduled to appear in court, Monday.
