Everyone safe following early morning fire in Osgoode

By Dani-Elle Dubé

Residents at a home in Osgoode Village were all able to make it out safely from a fire that ravaged their bungalow home.

According to Ottawa Fire Services, they received a 911 call from the homeowner at the Philip Street home at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday, reporting smoke from inside the home.

When firefighters arrived at the bungalow near between Drew Henry Drive and Wild Cherry Drive, they could see the smoke and flames and declared a working fire.

At this time, fire services says the fire is a defensive attack.

Fire crews remain on scene performing suppression activities.

There are no reported injuries at this time, although one person was assessed by Ottawa Paramedics on scene.

An Ottawa Fire investigator has been dispatched to the scene to determine the cause.

The Canadian Red Cross and the Salvation Army will both be helping those affected by the fire.
