City of Ottawa encouraging residents to report potholes

The City of Ottawa wants residents to report any pothol- related issues to ensure crews can fill the craters in a timely manner.
Transportation Committee chair and Beacon Hill-Cyrville councillor Tim Tierney says city road crews have patched over 10,000 potholes between January 1 and March 7, 2022.
On average, the City of Ottawa fills approximately 222,000 potholes per year. Tierney says crews are very good at getting the holes patched up, but they need to know where the issues are located.
Potholes can be reported through the City of Ottawa's website, but Tierney recommends residents reach out directly to their local councillor for more urgent matters.
“I can hear all my council colleagues cringing but sometimes there are some [potholes] that really need to be fixed quicker than the others and they can be re-prioritized,” he told the Rob Snow Show with guest host Derek Fage on Monday, March 14.
Tierney adds the City will be undertaking a large amount of road resurfacing work this year, after the budget for road maintenance doubled from 2021.
He feels resurfacing roads is solution to getting a lot of the potholes in Ottawa fixed.
“You're going to see a lot of road resurfacing this year but in the interim, we have to fix these craters,” Tierney said.
