The Ottawa Senators have placed forward Colin White on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a buyout, a move that will see him become a free agent at just 25 years old.
Because of his age, the buyout will only cost the Senators one third of the remaining value. According to CapFriendly, the buyout will last six years, spanning until 2028, and will cost $875,000 in all but 2024-25.
White, a former first-round pick for Ottawa, played six seasons in Canada's capital, recording 36 goals and 98 points in 224 games.
He posted the best numbers of his career in 2018-19, his first full season in the NHL, when he notched 41 points.
A Colin White buyout by the Ottawa #Sens costs 1/3 of the remaining value because he is less than 26 years of age.
