Ottawa by-law officials are investigating after three kittens were found abandoned in a carrier outside a commercial building in the area of St. Laurent Boulveard on Canada Day.
In a Twitter post on July 5, Ottawa By-law Services said the kittens were found on Don Reid Drive and appeared weak and unable to stand. It was 30 C when they were found on July 1, and the kittens had no food or water.
The kittens were immediately brought to a veterinarian, and one passed away.
By-law officers are gathering information and evidence to provide to Provincial Animal Welfare Services for an investigation. It is unknown how long the kittens were left outside.
