Two Ottawa hospitals rank in top 10 in Ontario for longest wait times according to latest data

Two Ottawa area hospitals rank in the top 10 in Ontario for the longest wait times according to new statistics from Health Quality Ontario. 

The latest data shows patients waited an average of 2.1 hours to see a doctor in an Ontario emergency room (ER) in the month of June of 2022, which was the same as the month of May across the province.

In Ottawa, the average wait time ranged from 2.2 hours to 3.6 hours for a first assessment from a doctor in June. 

The General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital had the longest wait times to see a doctor for a first assessment in Ottawa at 3.6 hours, which was the same as May of 2022. 

To receive a first assessment from a doctor at the the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), the wait was 3.5 hours for the month of June, down from 3.6 hours reported in May. CHEO had the second longest wait times last month according to statistics. 

Patients waited an average of 3.1 hours for a doctor's first assessment at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, which was down from 3.4 hours in May. 

The Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital, according to the latest data, saw patients waiting an average of 2.8 hours in June, unchanged from May numbers, while the Montfort Hospital had an average wait time of 2.2 hours, an increase from the 1.9 hours reported in May.
