Severe thunderstorm watch ends for Ottawa

Environment Canada has ended a severe thunderstorm watch for Ottawa.
It was one of two advisories Environment Canada issued for Ottawa today, with the other being a severe thunderstorm warning for the capital.
“Large hail can damage property and cause injury,” the weather agency said. “Locally heavy rain is also possible. Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.”
The weather agency said that strong wind gusts near 90 km/h are expected and Ottawa is expected to receive anywhere between 30 millimetres (mm) and 50 mm of rain starting this afternoon and into the evening.
