Snowsuit Fund launches third annual 50/50 lottery with new partner BGC Ottawa

The Snowsuit Fund has launched the third annual 50/50 lottery in support of Ottawa families and children in need.

This year, in order to help even more people, the renamed ’50/50 For The City’ is breaking new ground by welcoming BGC Ottawa to share in the proceeds. Organizers believe this year’s cross-promotional approach will allow the Snowsuit Fund to share the benefits of a bigger and better campaign with another local charity whose aims, vision and values align.

“We are so pleased to team up with BGC Ottawa in this year’s fundraising initiative,” said the Snowsuit Fund’s Vice Chair Martin Masse. “Both our organizations work to ensure that Ottawa children and youth develop confidence, self-esteem, social skills and a sense of belongingness, regardless of their economic circumstance. There’s strength in numbers and together we’ll make a bigger positive impact on the lives of youth and children in our community.”

It’s also expected that the 2024 grand prize will exceed last year’s total of $500,832 since two well-known charities will benefit.

“We are delighted and grateful for this opportunity to collaborate with The Snowsuit Fund,” said BGC Ottawa’s Chief Executive Officer Adam Joiner. “The need in our community has never been greater, and together we can make a big difference in the lives of our Members, their families and young people across Ottawa.”

The lottery is now underway and will run through Tuesday, Jan. 19 when the grand prize draw will be held at 9 a.m.

The fundraiser was developed in consultation with Rogers Radio Ottawa and will be heavily promoted across CHEZ 106, 105.3 KiSS FM and Country 101.1, with the grand prize draw being broadcast live on air.

“We are proud to continue to be the media organization powering this wonderful initiative,” added Adam Thompson of Rogers Radio Ottawa. “Both of the previous Snowsuit Fund 50/50’s broke jackpot records and kept thousands of Ottawa children warm. Together, we are striving for even bigger impact with 50/50 for the City.”
