OPP arrests man for Boxing Day bank robberies

Police have charged a man after two reported bank robberies in a town east of Ottawa.
The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said they received two reported of thefts at around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, one at the Bank of Montreal and the other at TD Bank, both on Main Street in Hawkesbury.
Police said they caught the suspect, who resisted arrest, shortly afterwards.
Ryan Parsons, 40, from Hawkesbury faces multiple charges including:
- Two counts of mischief under $5000,
- Two counts of resist peace officer,
- Two counts of theft over $5000,
- Possession of break in instruments,
- Failing to comply with probation order,
- Disguise with intent; and
- Assaulting a police officer.
He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the L’Orignal Court of Justice on Wednesday for his bail hearing.
