Man arrested after Ottawa police officer assaulted with a glass bottle

Police have arrested a man after an officer was assaulted with a glass bottle near a liquor store in Landsdowne on Tuesday evening.

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) said officers were called to a disturbance at the LCBO on 953 Bank Street at around 5:15 p.m.

Police said the suspect left the store and was found nearby by officers who said he became combative.

OPS said the suspect struck the officer twice in the head with a glass bottle and the officer used their Taser to arrest the man.

Ottawa Paramedics treated the officer for injuries and checked the suspect’s condition after being tased, according to OPS.

Jacob Young-Pine, 32, is in custody and is facing several charges which includes:

  •  Assault with a Weapon on a Police Officer
  •  Assault Cause Bodily Harm on a Police Officer
  •  Resist Arrest
  •  Assault
  •  Theft Under $5,000
  •  Cause Disturbance

Young-Pine is expected in court today.
