A 59-year old man is facing charges after police seized suspected cocaine from him during an impaired driving stop.
The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said they received a report about a possible impaired driver at around 4:00 p.m. on Monday in Petawawa.
Officers pulled the vehicle over on Petawawa Boulevard and conducted a field sobriety test. After searching the suspect’s vehicle, police said they found suspected cocaine.
Police said they brought the driver back to the detachment afterwards and further testing was done by a drug recognition expert officer.
Wayne LaPierre, 59, was charged with operation while impaired by drugs and two counts of possessing cocaine.
LaPierre’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
He is scheduled appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 27.
