65-year-old man killed in head-on collision between big rig and SUV

OPP said they are investigating a fatal head-on crash that left a 65-year-old dead south of Ottawa.

Police said the collision happened on Friday around 1:00 p.m. between Brockville and Smith Falls. A tractor-trailer and vehicle crashed on County Road-29 between County Roads 42 and 28.

The vehicle’s driver was brought to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said he was a 65-year-old man from the Cardinal area.

The driver of the transport was not seriously hurt.

County Road-29 was closed for several hours for the investigation but was re-opened Friday night.
