Rockland schools evacuated due to bomb threat

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate a bomb threat that led to the evacuation of Rockland District High School and Rockland Public School.

Shortly before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, Russell County OPP responded to a call regarding a bomb threat and both schools were evacuated, the second such threat involving Rockland District High School in the last two days.

A perimeter was established and a search of the properties was completed.

Once the properties were cleared and no safety issues identified, students were permitted to return to school.

The OPP would also like to remind members of the public that such events are punishable under numerous sections of the criminal code.
