Kingston mother charged with negligence in death of child

A woman from Kingston is facing charges in connection with the death of her child.

Shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday, May 31, Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington attended a unit in an apartment building on Russell Street and located two children who had been left abandoned.

There was no parent present, and one of the two children was found deceased.

Following an investigation, members of the Kingston Police Major Crime Unit located the mother of the two children at an address in Napanee.

The 32-year-old woman was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where she was held for bail.

The accused faces the following charges:

  • Criminal negligence causing death
  • Failing to provide necessaries of life
  • Abandoning a child under 10 years old (two counts)
