Firefighters battle thick smoke in Glebe house blaze; cat rescued

There are no injuries after an evening fire in the Glebe.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a single-family home in the 200 block of Imperial Avenue around 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16.
A 9-1-1 caller had reported heavy smoke coming from the back of the house.

Fire crews arrived and confirmed thick smoke coming from the top floor and a working fire was declared. Crews initiated a fast attack and began a search for occupants.
After two full searches of the home, it was confirmed there was no one inside at the time of the fire. A cat was located, brought to safety and given oxygen.
The blaze, which was contained before it could spread, was declared under control at 7:22 p.m.
A fire investigator was dispatched to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
