Lockdown lifted at Glebe high school, police arrest two

A police operation forced Glebe Collegiate Institute into lockdown just after noon on Tuesday.

Police were on Glebe Avenue near the high school during the lunch hour.

In a statement, the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) said the “lockdown was initiated as a result of an incident in the school community.”

Two people entered the school to hide from another member of the community. The OCDSB says due to the uncertainty of the events unfolding, they activated the lockdown.

Ottawa police said they have arrested two individuals, both under the age of 18, and took them into custody without incident.

After about one hour, the safety measure was lifted following a police search of the building to determine there was no danger to staff and students. Regular school operations resumed thereafter.

There have been no reports of any injuries.
