Multiple attempted murder charges laid following police-involved shooting in Orléans

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) say a man from Ottawa has been charged with attempted murder, among dozens of offences, following an incident in Orléans earlier this month.

Around 11:15 p.m. on Nov. 16, police were called to the area of St. Joseph Boulevard and Place D’Orléans Drive after receiving complaints of a man with a weapon assaulting people and damaging vehicles.

A responding officer confronted the man, which resulted in police shooting multiple times. The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is currently in stable condition.

The ordeal left five civilians with injuries, some of which were deemed serious but were later classified as non-life-threatening.

An Ottawa police investigation has now led to multiple charges against 33-year-old Tyler Low of Ottawa. He is facing many serious charges which include the following:

  • 4 counts of attempted murder
  • 5 counts of aggravated assault
  • 12 counts of assault with weapon
  • 2 counts of carry a concealed weapon
  • 7 counts of mischief damage property
  • 20 counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public

The province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) has already launched an investigation into this incident.

Ottawa police ask anyone with information about this incident to contact them at 613-236-1222 at extension 3566 or reach out Crime Stoppers anonomously.
