Driver using mother’s vehicle charged for going 65 km/h above limit

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Escort and Enforcement Unit stopped a vehicle travelling 145 km/h in an 80 km/h zone along Robertson Road near Eagleson Road.

The incident took place on March 2, and the vehicle — belonging to the driver’s mother — was impounded for 14 days.

The driver is also facing stunt driving charges, wrote OPS on X.

According to police, officers are focused on high-speed and high-risk drivers; working to improve road safety across the city.

On March 19, officers were out on the roads, as a part of Automatic Licence Plate Recognition-assisted enforcement.

Numerous vehicles were pulled along Albion, Ramsayville and St. Laurent Boulevard after officers detected multiple suspended drivers, wrote OPS on X.

OPS is reminding residents that no license and/or no insurance means no driving.

As a part of the 2025 Enhanced Integrated Enforcement Initiative, speed enforcement continues along arterial roadways in Ottawa’s west end. On March 20 officers stopped several speeding vehicles and a suspended driver along high-complaint corridors.

As the weekend approaches, Ottawa police are reminding drivers to ensure they do not consume alcohol or drugs before driving.

OPS will be stationed at 18 Impaired Focus Areas throughout the city, working to address impaired driving.
