Another Beer Store in Ottawa will be closing

After several Beer Stores across the province shuttered doors earlier this year, a few more locations will not be serving customers any longer.
The Beer Store location at 2144 Carling Ave. in the city’s west end will close by June 15. This is the second store in the nation’s capital to close this year, the first was located in Bells Corners.
In a statement to CityNews, Ozzie Ahmed, Vice President of Retail, said that changing markets and landscapes mean the business needs to adapt.

“We are closely monitoring the performance of each store and at times may need to make the challenging decision to close select stores. While we acknowledge that closures can be disappointing for our loyal customers and the dedicated employees who work in these stores, every decision we make is rooted in our commitment to being a sustainable business and ensure we can continue serving customers for many years to come.”
Ahmed said that “supporting employees” through the transition is happening, but he was not specific on what that looks like.
In this announcement, there were three other locations being closed by mid-June, including two in Toronto and one in Woodbridge, Ont.
All this comes after multiple changes the Doug Ford government implemented in the last year, including allowing private retailers like corner stores to sell alcohol. Premier Ford also allowed The Beer Store to start selling OLG lottery tickets, mugs, T-shirts and even food.
