OPP investigate ‘suspicious’ fire in village of 300 people

Members of the Leeds County Detachment of the OPP are investigating a fire they have deemed suspicious.
It happened Saturday around 12:00 p.m. Leeds OPP and the Rideau Lakes Fire Department responded to the fire at an uninhabited single-family home in the Village of Elgin, along Highway 15. The community is home to about 300 people, but sees an increase during the summer months.
Police say no injuries were reported.

Police have labelled the fire as suspicious and say there will be a heavy police presence in the area as the OPP Forensic Identification Unit and the Office of the Fire Marshal conduct their investigation.
Police are asking anyone with information or who may have dashcam or home security footage to contact OPP or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
