Man suffers life-threatening injuries after single vehicle crash

One person is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle collision west of Smiths Falls.

Members of the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene on Highway 43, just west of Glenview Road, shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday.

Investigators say a pick-up truck had been travelling westbound when it left the road.

The driver, a 33-year-old man from Perth, was transported to a regional trauma centre by Lanark County Paramedics. Officials say he sustained life-threatening injuries. No other occupants were in the vehicle.

Lanark OPP is continuing to investigate to determine the cause of the collision, with help from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigator.

Highway 43 remained closed until approximately 2 p.m., police say.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation, including any dashcam footage, is asked to contact Lanark OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
