Teen charged with murder after man found with stab wounds in west end

Ottawa police laid a second-degree murder charge after a 43-year-old was left in a life-threatening condition after being stabbed.

On Monday evening, emergency responders were called to a residential street in Bayshore in Ottawa’s west end.

A man was found around 6:45 p.m. with life-threatening injuries in the 2900 block of Penny Drive. Police have now identified the victim as Jeffrey Wilson, of Spencerville, a small community south of the nation’s capital.

Paramedics told CityNews they were called around 6:50 p.m. on Nov. 17 and found a man who had been stabbed.

“Paramedics attempted to stabilize his condition on scene and during his transport to hospital,” Marc-Antoine Deschamps, superintendent of public information with Ottawa paramedics, said in an email.

When the victim arrived at the hospital, paramedics indicated he was in critical condition. Officials said he died of his injuries shortly after.

On Tuesday, police laid murder charges against Firmosa Motuma, 18, of Ottawa.

Officials said that the matter is now before the courts.

This is the 11th stabbing-related homicide in the city and the 19th homicide overall this year. Ottawa police investigated three stabbings in October alone.
