Man brandishes knife while knocking on doors in Carleton Place, OPP say

Provincial police laid charges against a 43-year-old man after several reports of a person carrying a knife while knocking on doors in a Carleton Place neighbourhood.

Officers said they were called on Thursday just after 6:30 a.m. after multiple calls of a man knocking on the doors of several residences in the area of Pattie Drive and Cram Street. Police said they found the suspect quickly and placed him into custody.

They seized two knives and a brick from the man, the press release details.

As a result, a Smiths Falls man is facing charges of:

  • Causing a disturbance
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling
  • Mischief
  • Fail to comply with probation order – two counts

The accused remains in custody waiting for the bail hearing scheduled April 10.
