Feds announce $156M for transit projects in Ottawa

OTTAWA – The federal government has announced $156 million in funding for 57 transit infrastructure projects across Ottawa.
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson was joined by Environment Minister Catherine McKenna for the announcement, Tuesday, which was held along the Rideau Canal – where a new footbridge will be built.
The federal money will include $10.5 million for the pedestrian and cycling bridge which will connect Clegg Street with Fifth Avenue.
In total, the federal government is distributing $1.49 billion worth of transit funding to Ontario cities for track upgrades, new buses, shelters and upgrades to stations.
