Environment Canada issues snow squall watch for Gananoque and Mallorytown

By CityNews Ottawa

In Leeds and Grenville, Gananoque and Mallorytown were under a snow squall watch as of 5:32 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 26.

Environment Canada said the area could get up to 20 centimetres of snow especially near the Lake Ontario shoreline, with reduced visibility due to snow blowing over exposed areas.

“Snow squall development is expected over Lake Ontario starting early this morning,” the weather agency said. “These snow squalls will slowly move north today, possibly reaching highway 401 this afternoon, however, it is possible that the snow squalls will remain just south of highway 401. Total snowfall amounts along the Lake Ontario shoreline near 20 cm are possible along with blowing snow due to southwesterly winds gusting near 50 km/h. Snow squall activity is expected to move south of the area overnight.”
