Another round of closures is impacting a fourth Beer Store in the nation’s capital.
The location at Elmvale Acres Shopping Centre (1910 St. Laurent Blvd.) in Ottawa’s east end will be closing as of Sept. 14, according to a press release from The Beer Store. It is a part of 10 locations shuttering doors across the province.
The company continues to say that the “difficult decision” was made due to the changing retail landscape in Ontario.
“This is not an easy decision and not one we make lightly,” said Ozzie Ahmed, Vice President Retail, TBS. “Customers come to us for ice-cold beer, friendly customer service and a deposit return system that gets consumers their money back.”
This comes just five days before the location at 900 Bank St. is set to close its doors along with several others across the province.
Several stores remain in the nation’s capital for the time being.
All this comes after multiple changes the Doug Ford government implemented in the last year, including allowing private retailers like corner stores to sell alcohol. Premier Ford also allowed The Beer Store to start selling OLG lottery tickets, mugs, T-shirts and even food.
