Police offering $75K reward to help solve violent stabbing of Metcalfe man

Ottawa police are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of suspect(s) involved in a violent “targeted” stabbing last year.

In a press release, officials said that a $75,000 reward will be given for details or tips leading to a resolution of the case that shocked a small Ottawa community a year ago on Sept. 23.

That day, Roger Dale Lusk, 66, was seen leaving his home on Ira Morgan Way in Metcalfe at about 11:00 a.m. A fundraiser set up for the victim’s family explains this as a “quiet street” with many of the residents having lived there for over 20 years.

“Mr. Lusk was a devoted husband and father; his family is devastated, and they deserve answers,” Sgt. Chris O’Brien, officer with the homicide unit said in a video released.

Lusk was driving a pick-up truck when a short distance from his home, he pulled over and interacted with a light grey or silver sedan. In this instance, the front passenger of the vehicle attacked Lusk and stabbed him before fleeing the scene, police said.

A neighbour found Lusk in critical condition and he was sent to hospital. He succumbed to his injuries on Oct. 5.

Police say they believe they are looking for two people in the suspect vehicle at the time of the attack. Last year, they released a video showing a light grey or silver sedan driving down a street.

Officials are also calling this incident a “targeted attack.”

“This incident has sent a wave shock through our community and has left us all asking how an incident such as this could happen?” the fundraiser reads. “Leaving your house to travel to an appointment, only to be assaulted in a violent manner.”
