5 charged following break and enter at Pembroke, Ont. business

Four young adults and one youth are facing several charges after a Pembroke business was broken into in the early morning hours of Oct. 23.
Shortly after 2 a.m., officers responded to a report of a break and enter at a local business in the 800 block of Pembroke Street East.
The vehicle believed to be involved was located a short time later by Renfrew OPP on Highway 17. The vehicle was stopped, and five people fled on foot.
The OPP Canine Unit and the Emergency Response Team responded, and all five individuals were located, arrested and transported to the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment.
Abdullmoez Backah, 18; Fidley Kapend, 18; Zion Tahiamala-Atkinson, 19; Abdul Tshibuyi, 21, and a youth have all be jointly charged with the following offences:
- Two counts of Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
- Disguise with intent;
- Obstruct peace officer;
- Dangerous operation;
- Break and enter a place to commit indictable offence;
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000; and
- Mischief over $5000.
Tahiamala-Atkinson has also been charged with fail to comply with release order.
The youth was also charged with fail to comply with a sentence.
All parties were remanded into custody following bail hearings. They all will have court appearances at a later date.
Police recovered over $20,000 worth of stolen fragrances during the investigation.
