RCMP officer struck by vehicle while investigating crash

Ottawa police are taking the lead on a case where an on-duty RCMP officer was struck and injured by a vehicle on Thursday evening.
The incident happened at 5:30 p.m. on the George Etienne Cartier Parkway. Police said in a press release that the RCMP officer was investigating a separate collision when they were hit. The officer was a part of the RCMP’s proactive operation traffic unit, the national policing agency said.
Ottawa police were the first on the scene and provided first aid to the RCMP officer. They were transported to hospital in non-life-threatening condition and was said to be stable several hours after the incident.
Municipal officials are investigating the collision. The parkway was closed for several hours on Thursday evening.
