The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Robbery Unit has charged a man after a retail robbery in downtown Ottawa on Tuesday morning.
On July 28, just before 7:30 a.m., the suspect entered a convenience store in the 100 block of Rideau St. The man demanded merchandise and was refused by staff. As a result, the suspect assaulted a staff member before leaving the store with stolen merchandise.
OPS officers located the man a short distance away and arrested him without incident.
The suspect, 34-year-old David Charette, has been charged with robbery, breach of probation, and uttering threats.
He was held in custody by police and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
